Author Avatars List 1.6.0

I’ve just released version 1.6 of the Author Avatars List plugin.

2 versions in 2 days what am I doing :-)

Changes in this version:

  • Added the option to link to BBpress profile in the link to the shortcode and generator user_link=bbpress_memberpage
  • Fixed bug – the the shortcode generator was shown up in the tinyMCE edit if it was loaded on a page (BBpress forum posts) the popup was 404′ing so add a $pagenow != ‘index.php’ to make sure we are in the addmin section
  • Fixed bug causing the RTL layout to break

You can download the new version as usual from the from the WordPress plugin repository or of course simply install it using WordPress’ plugin update feature.

Please let me know if you have any problems.

  1. The new update doesn’t display the avatars side by side as it used to. It now displays them all in a vertical alignment with no way to change it. Please fix. Here’s what I mean. Here’s my website… look to the right sidebar, bottom right. http://www.InspiredWebWorks.com/blog/

  2. Just saw the update.. THANK YOU!!!!! It’s all fixed now.

  3. Can you give the [show_avatar] shortcode the same property definitions as the list view? Specifically, I’d love to be able to link those individual avatars to profiles, websites, etc. Happy to donate to see it happen! Cheers!

I have had a quick look at this. [show_avatar] is not much more than wrapper for the WP get_avator function. So to add this feature I would have to ping the DB to see if I get a match and then show if found.

Do you need all the Display options
      Show name
      Show number of posts
      Show biography

As well as the Link users to dropdown?

And if one of these elements are requested and not found in the DB should I add the HTML elements (but empty) that way if a number of then where added to a page and the data found is not the same the space the block would take up would be the same or not?.

“Do you need all the Display options:

        Show biography”

        >> Yes, that would be great! The largest need is to have the avatar link to the /author/ page.

“As well as the Link users to dropdown?”

        >> I’m not sure what this is :-/

“And if one of these elements are requested and not found in the DB should I add the HTML elements (but empty) that way if a number of then where added to a page and the data found is not the same the space the block would take up would be the same or not?.”

        >> Either way. Since This is for the [show_avatar], which means it doesn’t sit with other avatars, so it does not need consistent html styling for empty fields.
